The Classoom
Our class is in a traditional schoolroom. We sit in the usual desk-and-chair combination, and the teacher has a desk in front. In back of his desk is a blackboard. When he lectures, he holds the ferule.
There are 12 desk-and-chairs in the room. The students are required to get up and drape themselves over their desk if the teacher wishes to spank them with the ferule.
YES SIR
The Cosmos is an enormous schoolroom, and Krishna is the schoolmaster. This is our position in the universe -- sitting at the school desk-and-chair with our hands folded, learning the lessons taught to us by Govinda, the Giver of knowledge. The presence of the ferule quickens our learning. That’s right -- good, passive, obedient boys.
This classroom, if you carry it in your mind, can easily be adapted to other areas -- meditation, saying your prayers, doing your conventional homework, etc. It can also be used to receive a lesson from an invited person -- someone you admire in life, a figure from spiritual lore -- whatever.
